Man dies protecting spouse in Khan Bank robbery

And man has been killed and another injured in an attempted robbery at a Khan bank in Nalaikh District on Friday.
The accused entered the building at around 9:30 am and asked to speak with the Director, claiming to be a journalist. Once in the directors’ office he pulled out a gun.

The Director’s husband received a fatal gunshot wound when he attempted to protect his wife by standing in front of her. A client in the room received non-fatal wounds.
The offender then fled the building, kidnapping a waiting taxi driver and driving the stolen vehicle to the Khonkhor railway station where he was apprehended by police as he tried to board a train.
The gunman threatened to shoot the police but was overwhelmed when it was discovered he was no longer carrying his weapon.
The husband was rushed to the hospital and underwent surgery but died eleven hours later from severe internal injuries.
The Khan Bank director is unable to give a statement. Relatives claim she is still in shock from the incident
Chief of the Police station in Nalakh District, Lieutenant Colonel D.Enkhbayar said, “The criminal is a 26 year old man from the Songinokhairkhan District. "The case is under investigation, so we cannot provide more information.”
The man has a wife and child and graduated from the Mongolian State University of Agriculture. He was said to have been extremely distraught upon capture. He may have committed the crime because he is currently in a huge amount of debt.
